The Main Street Alliance is a national network of state-based small business coalitions. The Alliance creates opportunities for small business owners to speak for ourselves, advancing public policies that are good for our businesses, our employees and the communities we serve. The Main Street Alliance of Oregon represents main street small businesses in Oregon from boutique retail shops, general contractors, tech firms to startup small businesses. MSA OR is the small business organization that believes in representing the main street businesses and their concerns.
Small businesses are engines for our economy and culture. But we don’t do it by ourselves. Consumer demand from a thriving middle class is essential to bring customers through the door. Small businesses thrive when our communities thrive. The Main Street Alliance advocates for economy-boosting investments that support the Main Street customer base, fair rules of the road, and a level playing field for small businesses to compete.
Too often, our political and economic systems are rigged to benefit large corporations and wealthy CEOs at the expense of small businesses and our communities. Many times, small business owners are spoken for by corporate lobbyists who don’t have our interests at heart. When lobbyists steal the name of small business to further the agenda of large corporations, we call that ‘political identity theft.’
That’s why at the Main Street Alliance, we create opportunities for small business owners to speak for ourselves on issues impacting the health of our businesses and our communities:
Ending corporate tax loopholes to fund economy-boosting investments like roads, bridges, health care, and education.
Investing in a strong middle class and a vibrant small business customer-base by raising the minimum wage and guaranteeing paid sick days.
Protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act, passing economy-boosting immigration reform, getting big money out of politics, expanding access to credit, and more.
