As Republicans in Congress move forward with their plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Oregon’s local small business owners, impacted individuals, and healthcare experts will gather this Thursday, February 23rd, at 10am to release a new report that shows the effect of repeal on our state and to urge Congressional delegates to reject repeal. Main Street Alliance of Oregon members across the state are working and taking steps to protect access to coverage and look out for their bottom lines.

There is still no clear replacement plan that matches the ACA’s record of providing quality care at a lower cost for more people, and no plan that ensures the ACA’s protections against gender discrimination and pre-existing conditions remain in place. Yet lawmakers in Washington, DC continue to move forward with repeal efforts, seemingly without regard for the impact on communities.

Over 400,000 men, women, and children depend on the ACA for health coverage in Oregon. The report compiles data about the specific effects of repeal for insured Oregonians as well as broader impacts for jobs, the economy and Oregon’s state budget. Oregon’s small business owners will explain how they, their employees, families, and communities have thrived under the ACA.
